Mr. McCumber talked about the book he co-authored, An Air That Kills: How the Asbestos Poisoning of Libby, Montana Uncovered a National Scandal, published by Penguin USA. In the book, the authors chronicle the story of the employees of the Zonolite Factory and other residents of Libby, Montana, who suffered from the effects of asbestos exposure. Using interviews from several sources, including lawyers, scientists, and Environmental Protection Agency staffers, the authors work to expose what they view as an enormous cover-up by the Grace Corporation, which ran the factory that exposed employees to the carcinogenic substance. Mr. McCumber read from the book and responded to questions from the audience. Portions of the program contain language that may be offensive.
