Alvin Toffler was interviewed about his book Revolutionary Wealth, published by Knopf. His book, written with his wife Heidi, takes a look at the 21st century. The Tofflers argue that the United States is spearheading a new civilization, but that corporations, government, and social institutions left over from an era of mass production are not keeping up in this rapidly changing world. He talked about the vast accumulation of wealth by some corporations, noting that institutions are difficult to change. He talked about other topics such as viewing future changes, economics, technology, and the effects of his 1970 book Future Shock.
He was interviewed by former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich who founded the Center for Health Transformation and is co-chairman of the U.S. Institute for Peace Task Force on the United Nations. As a young assistant professor at West Georgia State College in the early 1970s, Newt Gingrich began working with the Tofflers. He often referred to their work during his political career and put Toffler books on his suggested reading list for members of Congress and all Americans.
Mr. Toffler wrote Future Shock in 1970, Third Wave in 1980, and Power Shift in 1990.
