Senator Lisa Murkowski is challenged for election by former Governor Tony Knowles. In 2002 Senator Murkowski was appointed by her father to fill the senate seat he vacated when he became governor. The candidates took part in a debate moderated by Mr. Carey and Mr. Mauer.
