Panelists talked about the rise and influence of al-Qaida in Yemen and U.S. efforts to effectively tackle the terror group and its acts of violence. Ibrahim Sharqieh and Gregory Johnsen questioned whether this is an effective U.S. strategy to combat al-Qaida. Both agree there are many legal issues surrounding it. Sharqieh argues that Yemen is a hot spot for al-Qaida because it’s very politically unstable.

Ibrahim Sharqieh participated by remote video access from Doha, Qatar. close
