Trita Parsi talked about the details of the agreement the U.S. and five other global powers (P5+1) reached with Iran on a six-month test freeze of the country’s nuclear program. He said the hardest part of the deal would happen at the end of the six months, when sanctions against Iran are to be lifted. Other topics included the lack of trust between the U.S. and Iran; how the Obama administration approach to Iran compares to prior administrations; and reaction to the deal among members of Congress, Israeli leaders, and Iranian citizens. Mr. Parsi also responded to telephone calls and electronic communications.

P5+1 comprises five permanent United Nations Security Council members (the U.S. Russia, France, China, and the United Kingdom), plus Germany.

At the conclusion of the program C-SPAN Radio’s Nancy Calo read news headlines. close
