Brink Lindsey talked about his book The Age of Abundance: How Prosperity Transformed America’s Politics and Culture, published by Collins. In his book Mr. Lindsey argues that post-World War II prosperity in the United States transformed American culture as increased wealth and improvements in everyday life allowed Americans to turn their attention to social matters, shattering traditional societal conventions. The resulting liberal counterculture, which in turn endgendered a conservative backlash, Mr. Lindsey argues, is creating a libertarian consensus combining the social freedom of the left with the economic freedom of the right. David Brooks joined him in discussion of the book. They responded to questions from members of the audience.

David Brooks is the author of Bobos In Paradise: The New Upper Class and How They Got There, published by Simon and Schuster. close
