Christopher Anders and Charles Blanchard talked about the issue of drone strikes against American citizens abroad who are suspected of having ties to al-Qaeda. At the time, the Obama administration was seeking Justice Department approval for executing a drone strike on a U.S. citizen in Pakistan suspected of planning terror attacks targeting the U.S. The procedure being followed was the same one used to approve a drone strike on U.S. militant cleric and former Virginia resident Anwar al-Awlaki in Yemen in 2011. close
