As part of a conference titled, “Henry Adams and the Need to Know,” the participants discussed Professor Maine’s paper on “Henry Adams Through Art” followed by audience participation. The paper focused on Adams' role as an interpreter and reader of portraits by John Singer Sargent. Slides were shown of many of the works of art owned by Adams. Ms. Kaledin is the author of The Education of Mrs. Henry Adams.
