Newsweek hosted a panel discussion on the Telecommunications Act of 1996. Members of the panel took the opportunity to voice their opinions on what the future may hold in all realms of communication. Raymond Smith, Bell Atlantic Chairman and CEO predicts price and product competition and suggests that there will be a wider broadband available for home use. John Major, Senior Vice President at Motorola says that they are building portable cell phones that will work with any system, and is small enough to put into your pocket. Alan Spoon, Washington Post Company President claims that the biggest advantage will be the choices that the consumer will have. close
