On April 1, 2003 the U.S. Supreme Court heard oral arguments in the cases of Grutter v. Bollinger and Gratz v. Bollinger, two legal actions challenging the affirmative action policies at the University of Michigan Law School and undergraduate college. The panel, which included attorneys for the plaintiffs, defense, and amici curiae, discussed the competing legal arguments and the political, social, and educational implications of the Supreme Court’s ultimate decision.
