The Crime, Terrorism and Homeland Security Subcommittee of the House Judiciary Committee held a hearing on reauthorizing the Patriot Act. This first panel focused on Sections 206 and Section 215. Section 206 of the Patriot Act allows a wiretap to be issued by a judge to cover a person rather than a specific phone or electronic device. Section 215 authorizes the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, allowing courts to issue an order for business records related to “international terrorism and clandestine intelligence activities.” close
