Thomas Reed talked about his book At the Abyss: An Insiders History of the Cold War, published by Random House. The book tells the story of the author’s involvement in America’s fight in the Cold War in the last half of the twentieth century. The author is a former Secretary of the Air Force, Director of the National Reconnaissance Office, and Special Assistant to President Reagan for National Security Policy; involved in the Cold War in some form or another for more than 30 years. To discuss his book, Mr. Reed is joined onstage by former Secretary of Defense (1973-75) James Schlesinger as well as Philip Taubman, author of Secret Empire: Eisenhower, the CIA, and the Hidden Story of America’s Space Espionage. Following their remarks they answered questions from the audience. close
