Video clips were shown of an October 3 speech by Nicholas Basbanes about the Abel Berland library. Mr. Basbanes and Francis Wahlgren were interviewed about these 18 items, interspersed with scenes from the auction of each one. Many of the auction participants were interviewed about the items and prices.
Over the course of 40 years Abel Berland, a Chicago real estate consultant, had collected a library of rare editions of 500 of the most well-known works of English literature and other areas.
