Journalist Ed Moloney, who has covered the Irish Republican Army since the late 1970s, discussed his book, A Secret History of the IRA, published by W.W. Norton and Company. The book follows the struggle of the IRA to create a unified and independent Irish state, and the activities of Sinn Fein leader Gerry Adams, who over the course of 16 years secretly negotiated the settlement ending the IRA’s thirty-year conflict with Britain. Mr. Moloney details Margaret Thatcher’s diplomacy with Adams, and the actions of the American government under President Bill Clinton. After his presentation Mr. Moloney answered questions from members of the audience.
