Mr. Raphael talked about his book A People's History of the American Revolution: How Common People Shaped the Fight for Independence, published by The New Press. Mr. Zinn first spoke about the New Press People's History Series, Mr. Raphael's book, and ways to approach writing history. The book focuses on the American Revolution from the perspective of slaves, Native Americans, women, and others. Mr. Raphael said that while a lot has been written about well-known leaders of the revolution such as Washington and Jefferson, little is known about the common people who witnessed the revolution. Mr. Zinn and Mr. Raphael answered questions from the audience at the end of the program.
