Mr. Rybczynski talked about his biography, A Clearing in the Distance: Frederick Law Olmstead and America in the Nineteenth Century, published by Scribner. The book describes the life and career of Olmsted, the landscape designer who is famous for his plans for New York’s Central Park and the grounds of the U.S. Capitol Building in Washington, DC.
