Federal Express workers and lawmakers briefed reporters on their opposition to the FAA reauthorization bill currently being debated in the Senate. They focused on the provision which would put employees of airborne express couriers, such as Federal Express, under the Railway Act rather than the National Labor Relations Act. Senator Ted Kennedy (D-MA) used a Senate procedure to extend debate on the issue until at least October 3 when a cloture vote is scheduled. close
