Ms. Chang talked about her book, The Rape of Nanking: The Forgotten Holocaust of World War II, published by Basic Books. The book documents the atrocities visited upon the people of Nanking by the Japanese military during the early years of World War II. She describes Nanking as a laboratory in which Japanese soldiers were taught to slaughter unarmed, unresisting civilians, and that they used these tactics later throughout Asia. Ms. Chang argues that the Japanese government should pay reparations and apologize for its army's actions. Some of the graphic photographs in the book were displayed.

Ms. Chang is a journalist.
