Committee members heard testimony from several administration officials and others concerning the president’s American Heritage Rivers project designed to protect designated areas from development. Two members of Congress testified about how the law would impact rivers in their districts. Then three administration officials testified about public and congressional involvement in designating these rivers. They also testified about why this program is important in protecting the nation’s rivers.
