Roger Kennedy talked about his book Orders From France: The Americans and the French in a Revolutionary World, 1780 - 1820 (University of Pennsylvania Press). In the book he examines the ways in which France’s artisans, architects, engineers, and craftsmen influenced Revolutionary America. During this period in American history, Williamsburg, Virginia, was modeled after Versailles, France; Washington, D.C., was designed by French architect Pierre-Charles L’Enfant; and a French engineer designed the intricate New York canal system. Mr. Kennedy talked about the development of the American and French Constitutions and the impact of each revolution on world affairs. Character descriptions of influential leaders such as Washington, Jefferson, and Rousseau were also included. close
