The 27th annual Washington conference of the Council of the Americas was titled, “Bridging the Gap to 2005: A Business-Government Dialogue.” Secretary Albright discussed the U.S. foreign policy agenda, Assistant Secretary Davidow talked about U.S. foreign policy toward Latin America, and Mr. McLarty spoke in support of free trade. U.S. Trade Representative Barshefsky explored the balance between regional harmony and domestic industrial needs.
