After being introduced by Justice Souter, Professor Currie spoke about the Supreme Court views on New Deal legislation initiated by the Franklin Roosevelt administration to deal with the Great Depression. He stressed that by 1937 when the Court approved most of the legislation, it had made the economic power and congressional authority of the federal government virtually limitless. This was part of a series on the Supreme Court during the New Deal.
