In a lecture titled, “Dissonance between private lands and wildlife,” Mr. Gibbons spoke about the conflict between personal property rights and the protection of native species of wildlife in their habitats. He explained how this issue is an example of the general debate between private interests and the public good. He also focused particular attention on endangered species legislation which has the greatest impact on private property rights and wildlife. Professor Nelson then spoke briefly about these issues. Both men then took questions from the audience. This was the first in a series of lectures on ecology and the economy.
