Justice Black Tribute

The life and career of Justice Hugo Black was profiled through interviews with his son, his biographer and others on the 25th anniversary of his death. Justice Black was a member of the U.S. Supreme Court from 1937 to 1971. He was a Democratic member of the U.S. Senate from 1927 to 1937 until nominated to the Court by President Roosevelt. There was a controversy at the time because he had been a member of the Ku Klux Klan. Judge Oberdorfer was a law clerk for Justice Black. Mr. Newman is the author of Hugo Black: A Biography, published by Pantheon Books. Mr. Eagle critiqued Justice Black’s influence on the Court.
