Professor Baker discussed her book, The Stevensons: A Biography of an American Family, published by W.W. Norton and Company. In the book she traced the family history of Adlai Ewing Stevenson III, former U.S. senator from Illinois. Ms. Baker described the family’s Scottish-Irish roots, and detailed the lives and careers of several family members, including Grover Cleveland’s Vice-President Adlai Stevenson and two-time Democratic presidential candidate and former Illinois Governor Adlai Stevenson II (1900-1965), the Democratic presidential candidate in 1952 and 1956.
