Commission members heard testimony from former intellligence officials concerning the necessary role and capabilities of the U.S. intelligence community after the Cold War. Mr. Nye talked about the difficulties of intelligence analysis in the no longer bipolar global situation and Mr. Barr about the relationship between intelligence and law enforcement. The commission was established by Congress in October 1994 to investigate the role of U.S. intelligence agencies in the post-Cold War world.
