Professor Emory Thomas discussed his recent book, Robert E. Lee: A Biography, published by W.W. Norton. The book covers Lee’s family background and Civil War career. General Lee lived only five years after the end of the war, during which time he was president of a small college. Professor Thomas discussed the image of General Lee and how it has been “revised” to that of a troubled, shy person. Professor Thomas also talked about his own writing and his life in academia. close
