In the book, Mr. Mailer examines the life of Lee Harvey Oswald after he defected to the Soviet Union at the age of 19 and provides a wider view on the absurdity of the Cold War through the eyes of this man who became disillusioned with both countries. It is not focused on whether Mr. Oswald was the sole assassin of President John F. Kennedy.
