President Clinton and Mr. Maher spoke before the annual dinner gathering of White House Radio and Television correspondents. President Clinton noted that for 51 years the correspondents have joined together to celebrate the best of the electronic media. He said that, while the times, rules, and practices have changed over the years, he believes that most of them want what’s best for the country, and that they do their jobs in the hope they’re doing them well enough to advance the interests of the United States and to keep the American Dream alive.
