Former two-term Democratic Rep. Jones is challenging Republican whip Newt Gingrich for the Sixth District seat in Georgia. Mr. Jones had represented the old Fourth District near Atlanta which was eliminated during 1992 redistricting. Mr. Jones is a former television actor.
