Jordan’s King Hussein and Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin signed a peace agreement in Wadi Araba, Jordan, near the Israel-Jordan border after 47 years of hostilities. President Clinton and other dignitaries witnessed the signing and made brief remarks. Before the treaty was formalized, a rabbi read from the Torah and a priest sang from the Koran. Over 5000 persons witnessed the event. This agreement is Israel’s second with an Arab country. close
