In Annapolis, Maryland this morning, President Clinton addressed the graduating class of the U.S. Naval Academy. In his remarks, the President spoke on his upcoming trip to Europe to mark the 50th anniversary of D-Day. The President noted the accomplishments of D-Day veterans after they returned home--creation of the G.I. Bill and the interstate highway system--and asked the Academy graduates to think about what their generation will accomplish. The President discussed his “Bottom-Up Review,” a sweeping review to ensure that in this new era our nation has the right-sized Armed Forces for the post-Cold War era, and spoke on the defense budget, deficit reduction, and several other issues. Following the president’s address, he handed diplomas to a number of “top” students and received presents from the graduating class.
