Former U.S. diplomats and administration officials joined President Bill Clinton, Vice President Al Gore, and former President Jimmy Carter at a White House ceremony outlining the importance of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). It was the second major gathering of former administration officials expressing support for the agreement. The vote on the agreement, scheduled for late November, is considered to be “too close to call.” Following statements by each of the dignitaries, President Clinton spoke concerning the “courage” needed to vote for the agreement. close
