The California Joint Education Committee heard testimony concerning the use of school vouchers for education. The voucher system would give California parents a choice to send their children to public, private or religious schools. Witnesses testified for and against Proposition 174 and its potential effects on the California education system. Proposition 174 was subsequently defeated in the November 2 election.
