Officials from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the New England Fishery Management Council testified at a hearing to assess the nation’s fishery laws, specifically reauthorization of the the Magnuson-Stevens Act. This law was enacted in 1976 and governs the management of marine fisheries in U.S. federal waters.
