The acting secretary of state for East Asian and Pacific Affairs and two other North Korea experts testified at a hearing on U.S. policy toward North Korea and the security risks posed by that country. The same day as this hearing, North Korea’s state-run media threatened that any attempt to remove Kim Jong Un as leader would result in a nuclear strike against the U.S., and the U.S. House of Representatives voted in favor of new sanctions against Iran, Russia and North Korea. close
