Sally Yates delivered remarks to graduates at Harvard Law School’s 2017 Class Day. She explained to students her decision regarding President Trump’s travel ban saying, “I believed that this would require us to advance a pretext, a defense not grounded in truth, and so I directed the Department of Justice not to defend the ban.” In addition, Ms. Yates said she decided not to resign as acting attorney general because it would have only protected her personal integrity and not the integrity of the Justice Department. Harvard Law School’s Class Day was held the day before the commencement ceremony. close
