Panelists talked about the July 2015 Iran nuclear agreement and its prospects for averting nuclear proliferation in the Middle East. Robert Einhorn and Richard Nephew presented their report, The Iran Nuclear Deal: Prelude to Proliferation in the Middle East?, which assess the current status of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and the likelihood that regional countries would pursue their own nuclear weapons programs. Other speakers included the ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to the U.S. who gave his country’s perspective on the agreement and Iranian influence in the region.
