Headlines from the day’s newspapers were read and telephone lines were open for viewer responses to the question, “What is the legacy of the Vietnam War?” Telephone lines were divided by Vietnam veterans, Vietnam veterans family members, and others.

Video clips were shown of President Obama speaking in Vietnam May 24, 2016, and from an event about Vietnam at the LBJ Presidential Library of Secretary of State John Kerry April 27, 2016, and former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger April 26, 2016.

Scenes of visitors at the Vietnam Veterans War Memorial from May 26, 2016, were shown in the background and video clips were played of interviews with a first-time visitor to Washington, D.C., and a Vietnam veteran who was organizing honor flights from Kansas.

Representatives Rodney Frelinghuysen (R-NJ) and Joe Pitts (R-PA) both spoke by phone about their service in Vietnam.

There were also live shots from the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington shown in the background. close
