The House debated a bill to reduce the deficit by about $80 billion. It would repeal of some of the health care law provisions: individual and employer mandates, medical devices tax, and the 40% tax on “Cadillac” plans. The bill would also defund Planned Parenthood for one year. Republicans argued that the people did not want to keep the health care act as many had lost existing plans under that law. Democrats criticized the Republicans for wasting time on another attempt to repeal the health care law. They said the bill was an attack on women’s health, and would take away health insurance from 15 million people. close
