Troubled Trails
C-SPAN’s Local Content Vehicles (LCVs) made a stop in their “2015 LCV Cities Tour” in Grand Junction, Colorado, from July 6-10 to feature the history and literary life of the community. Working with the Charter Communications local affiliate, they visited literary and historic sites where local historians, authors, and civic leaders were interviewed. The history segments air on American History TV (AHTV) on C-SPAN3 and the literary events/non-fiction author segments air on Book TV on C-SPAN2.

Robert Silbernagel talked about his book, Troubled Trails: The Meeker Affair and the Expulsion of the Utes from Colorado, about the White River Massacre that took place in the Grand Junction, Colorado, area. Nathan Meeker was the head of the White River Indian Agency and was killed with ten other members of the agency after a confrontation with members of the Ute tribe. During the attack, three women were also taken hostage.
