The chairs of the House and Senate Veterans' Affairs Committees announced a bipartisan deal authorizing 17 billon dollars for veterans' health care. The agreed bill would provide 10 billion dollars for contracting out of health care so that veterans would not have to wait for care. In addition it would provide 5 billion dollars for make the VA more accountable and recruit more health care professionals, and 1.5 billion dollars to lease 27 new facilities around the country. The legislation still needed to be passed by the conference committee and both houses of Congress. close
