Treasury Secretary Jack Lew announced the extension of the “Making Home Affordable” program for at least another year to help homeowners with underwater mortgages and allow borrowers more time to make mortgage payments. Topics included efforts to bring more private capital into the housing sector and assistance for renters.

These were the closing remarks at the Making Home Affordable Summit, which marked the fifth anniversary of federal government efforts to stabilize the housing market. It was held in the Cash Room of the Treasury. close
