Senator Carl Levin (D-MI) briefed reporters and responded to questions on the U.S. response to escalating violence in Iraq. He said he supported sending 300 military advisers to assist Iraq’s army against militants, but he would not yet support airstrikes against Iraq. Senator Levin said he would support airstrikes only if several conditions were met, including support from Iraq and other allies in the region. close
