Senator Tom Coburn (R-OK) talked about his career, politics, and reasons for his early retirement from the Senate at the end of the 113th Congress. He discussed his health after being diagnosed with a prostate cancer recurrence, and his disappointments in the government on issues such as spending, transparency, and the Affordable Care Act. He spoke of the need for great leaders, saying the mistakes Congress has made stem from a lack of life experience from those who are representing the American people. He also detailed his friendship with President Obama, and said that the two remain close despite their vast political differences. He also described disagreements he has had with other members of Congress, such as Senator Ted Stevens (R-AK) and Harry Reid (D-NV) and how he reconciled with them. close
