Members of the House debated a bill to require the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to notify people if their personal information is compromised at state or federal health care insurance exchanges. Democrats argued that there had been no security breaches and the Obama Administration issued a statement saying the bill would cause “unrealistic and costly paperwork requirements that do not improve the safety or security of personally-identifiable information” on the health insurance exchanges.

The House passed the bill today 291-122. The Senate was not expected to consider the bill. close
