Doug Mills talked about his meeting with White House press secretary Jay Carney. Mills and other colleagues from the White House Correspondents Association had complained about being limited in their access to photograph the president. Mills said that the official White House photographer, Pete Souza, has unlimited access and follows President Obama “everywhere.” Mills expressed hope that he and others will be granted more access in the future. Mr. Mills also presented photographs taken throughout 2013, including events on Capitol Hill and at the White House, as well as international venues. In addition, he talked about the newest technology he employs in his daily work, and revealed how he is able to quickly transmit his photos to the New York Times from global locations including Africa and Israel. He also spoke about his background and education and shared how he got interested in photography. close
