White House Press Secretary Jay Carney held his daily briefing with reporters. He announced that President Obama had accepted House Speaker John Boehner’s invitation to deliver the State of the Union address on January 28, 2014. The main focus of the briefing centered on the investigation of retired Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) agent Robert Levinson who went missing in Iran in 2007, reportedly while working for the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). In remarks, Press Secretary Carney stated that Mr. Levinson was not a U.S. government employee when he went missing. Other topics addressed included a presidential review of National Security Agency programs, Iran sanctions, and implementation of the health care law. close
