Mark Follman talked about his Mother Jones Magazine article on the number of children who have been killed by guns since the December 2013 mass shooting at a Newtown, Connecticut, elementary school. In his piece he analyzed the subsequent deaths of 194 children ages 12 and under who were reported in news accounts to have died in gun accidents, homicides, and suicides. He described some of the investigation he conducted for the article, saying the dearth of information on the topic was in part due to congressional lobbying by the National Rifle Association to prevent such research.
