The Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee held a hearing on the nomination of Janet Yellen for Federal Reserve chair. Many senators' questions focused on when the Federal Reserve would begin tapering back on quantitative easing and its other monetary policies. Other topics included income inequality, ending “too big to fail,” fiscal policy as it relates to monetary policy, the effects of a default on U.S. debt, and the need for a sustainable long term budget and debt reduction plan. close
